If we have to cancel a course due to low enrolment, tutor illness or some other unforeseen circumstances, we’ll get in touch ASAP. You will be offered a choice of either a full refund or a class credit. If it’s just one class, we’ll try to make it up.

Are your kids itching to get stitching?

Our after-school Introduction to Sewing for Kids (ages 8–12) offers hands-on learning in both hand and machine sewing. The class promotes creativity, sustainability, and upcycling while teaching practical skills in a fun and safe environment.

Class duration & dates:

Tuesdays 4.30pm to 5.30pm

Full term - April 21st through to June 23rd

1st 1/2 Term Dates - April 21 & 28, May 5 & 12

(mid-term break 19th May)
2nd 1/2 Term Dates May 26, June 2, 9, 16 & 23

Cost

Full term - 9 Classes - $225 (incl GST)

1st 1/2 term - 4 Classes - $100 (incl GST)

2nd 1/2 term - 5 Classes - $125 (incl GST)

What this course will cover:

Each session will build on the different skills needed to create and complete the projects throughout the term, helping kids gain confidence, and develop a lifelong love of sewing and creating.

Projects will depend on individual student abilities and can be all or some of these - tote/carry bag, apron, oven mitt, pencil case, simple garment.

Students will learn;

basic sewing machine skills - threading, tensions, different machine stitches and needles, and basic machine care
using sewing equipment and tools such as scissors, pins, needles and irons
layout and cutting fabrics
stitching techniques for hand sewing and finishing
machine sewing projects and finishing

What skills are needed:

Students don't need any sewing skills to participate in this class! We start with the sewing basics and build up skills to complete a project.

Class requirements and what to bring:

This class is suitable for students aged between 8 and 12 years old
A parent or guardian will need to be in attendance for the duration of the class, either in the classroom or waiting area.
The class requires a minimum of three students to run and maximum of six.
We recommend all kids have something to eat before coming to class and not having an empty tummy. We don't provide snacks or food
We have tools and equipment for all students. However, if you have your own sewing machine and can bring it to the class, we would really appreciate it. It helps us keep our costs low if we do not have to supply too many machines, and the children learn on a machine they can use at home.
Students are welcome to bring their own sewing kits (scissors, pins, unpick etc) however we have all necessary tools & equipment required for the class.

Materials

All materials & equipment needed to complete the projects are included in the fee.
If students would like to use their own fabrics/materials for an individual project, they are welcome to bring it along (at own cost) Please check with the teacher for suitability of materials and specific amount needed prior to class.
Just a note - we are unable to refund any material cost included in the fee if you bring your own.

Getting to your class

Let us know which course you are booking by filling in the class booking form and we’ll send our bank details for you to make payment. Once you have made payment, send the payment receipt to sewingroomkyneton@gmail.com A spot is reserved for you once full payment is received. Class materials or kit fees (if applicable) may be included or charged separately and must be paid prior to commencement. The class fee covers the overhead costs of a teacher & operating the space. For most classes we need a minimum of 4 students to participate in each session. If we don't have the minimum number of students enrolled we may need to cancel the class.

We’re a small sewing studio, and every seat in our classes really counts. When you book a class, that spot is yours – and we start planning, prepping materials, and turning people away once it’s full. Because of that, we don’t offer refunds for cancelled bookings within 7 days of the class. If we can fill your spot we can offer a refund. There is no refund if you don’t show up or drop out.
